Good News!  The 6th Battalion 27th Artillery, Vietnam Veterans Reunion, is booked for September 15 and 16, 2010 at the Flamingo Hotel & Casino Las Vegas

 

Now it is time for you to do your part.  1.  Make your travel plans now.  2. Reserve a room at the Flamingo Hotel.  3. Send in your registration fee.   Please note, refunds will be given only if there are remaining funds after all expenses have been paid.

A.      Drive, Fly or Walk to Las Vegas, Nevada.  Get there any way you can!

     

B.  Reserve a Room at the Flamingo Hotel & Casino at special rates.  Use this number 1-800-732-2111 to reserve your room.  You must mention you are with the 6th Battalion 27th Artillery Vietnam Reunion Group.   A Standard Deluxe 2 Queen or King room is $50.00 + 12% tax per day.  A Deluxe Go King Room is $90.00 + 12% tax per dayPlease Note:  The hotel is holding a limited number of each room choice for our event until August 1, 2010 and when they are booked this rate will no longer be honored.  The hotel will honor this rate on three days (9/14 to 9/16/2010 – subject to availability) You must arrange your travel to/ from Las Vegas any way you want.  See Flamingo Hotel Rules Below:

 

C.  See attached form you need to print and mail to John Wavra along with your Registration Fee.   

We must receive your Registration Fee by August 1, 2010  in order for you to attend. (We must give the hotel dinner counts and pay them in advance by 8/10/2010. Please note, refunds will be given only if there are remaining funds after all expenses have been paid.

 

Registration Fee:  Vets - $170.00 and Spouses/Significant Others - $105.00.   Vet + Spouse/Guest = $275.00.  We regret this fee is so much more than other reunions but all Las Vegas hotels are offering deeply discounted rooms but are making it up with doubled food and beverage prices and charges for meeting rooms.

 

We must have your paid registration by August 1, 2010) to satisfy the hotel guarantee for the dinner and pay them.  If we do not receive registration fees for at least 40 attendees we may be forced to cancel the dinner and the entire reunion.

           

            Here is what is included in the Registration Fee:

 

1.       Your portion of the expense for the Reception/Hospitality Meeting Room and bartender charge and minimum beverage sales for Wednesday.

2.       Dry snacks, dips, your first drink at the cash bar and coffee.  The hotel will not allow us to bring in our own food or beverages this year.

3.   Dinner – tax and gratuity and share of banquet room expenses.   Wine with the meal as well as Coffee and Tea are included.  Other beverages are not. 

 

                     Because of the size of our group we could only go with one menu option served to all.  The Menu will be:

Chef’s Selection of Potato, Seasonal Vegetables

Strawberry Napoleon, Fresh Strawberries layered in a Puff Pastry with Grand Marnier Cream

 

(Please advise us if you require a vegetarian meal and we will work with the hotel to provide such)

 

 (Note:  If any money is left after all expenses are paid we will refund proportionally everyone who paid the registration fee and could not attend.  If funds remain we will advise you of the amount and then bank it for the next reunion.  None of us wants to get stuck picking up any extra charges so if expenses run higher then estimated we will ask for your contributions in that event to make up the remaining charges.)

Guys, as with the 2004, 2006 and 2008 Reunions this is an informal gathering.   We have no plans for boring meetings, long-winded-speeches, corny events or any entertainment.  This Reunion is simply an opportunity to get together, meet new and old friends, remember Vietnam and our time with the 6/27th Artillery and hopefully have a good time.  With that said, we again tried to keep it simple:

 

 

 

Wednesday, September 15, 2010 -  12:00 Noon to 11:00 p.m..  

 

Registration and Hospitality Meeting - Gather in the 6/27th Artillery Hospitality/Reception Meeting Room at Flamingo Red Rock 6 Room.  Check at the desk to be sure a change of rooms has not occurred.  We will provide dry snacks and dips and your first drink at the cash bar (3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.) – coffee.  (Cost is included in your Registration Fee).  Feel free to stop in anytime during this time period and stay as long as you like.  Lunch and Dinner this day are not planned so you are on your own, but we encourage you to spend the afternoon and evening in the Hospitality Meeting Room.

 

Thursday, September 16, 2010 -  Dinner – 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. 

 

Dinner will be in the Flamingo Hotel Laughlin I (One) Banquet Room – check at the desk to confirm no change has been made.  (All costs – food & wine/sparkling cider, excluding alcoholic/other drinks are included in your registration)   After dinner we plan around-the-room self-introductions.  Later everyone will have an opportunity to say a few words, tell a story, relate a memory or whatever, if they choose and time permits.  No planned speakers or formal program other than your hosts welcome and a remembrance of fallen comrades.  We will take a group photo near end of dinner.  You are on your own for breakfast (see above) and lunch this day.  Spend time with a fellow vet(s), take in some sun around the hotel pool, and visit other hotel/casinos or Las Vegas attractions.

Flamingo Hotel Rules:

 

ADDITIONAL PERSON

Additional persons will be charged at a rate of $30.00 per person, per night, with a maximum of four persons per guestroom.

 

GUESTROOM POLICY

Hotel must approve any modifications to the guestrooms, corridors or any location in the hotel towers, including, but not limited to:  removal of furniture, fixtures, artwork, etc; adding tables or chairs, signage, using guestrooms as meeting rooms or exhibit rooms.

 

No outside vendors are allowed to work in the hotel towers or guestrooms without prior approval from Hotel.

 

EARLY DEPARTURES

In the event a guest who has reserved a guestroom within your block checks out prior to the reserved check-out date, Hotel will add an early check-out fee of $50.00 plus tax to that individual’s account.  Guests wishing to avoid an early check-out fee should advise Hotel at or before check-in of any change in planned length of stay.  Hotel will inform members of Group of this potential charge at check-in, and request that Group also informs attendees of this obligation.

 

RESERVATION METHOD

Group attendees will be making reservations directly with the Hotel.  They may call Hotel at 1-800-732-2111 on or before August 1, 2010.  Individuals must identify themselves as part of the 6th Battalion 27th Artillery Reunion to receive the special group rate. All reservations must be guaranteed with a deposit for the first nights guestroom and tax charge.  If reservation is guaranteed to a credit card, a first night’s guestroom and tax charge, per guestroom, will be billed immediately to the cardholder’s account.  

 

Hotel allows individual attendees the right to cancel their guestroom reservations without penalty up to seventy-two (72) hours prior to the attendees’ scheduled arrival date.  Hotel shall charge the individual attendee or bill Group’s Master Account one (1) night’s guaranteed guestroom rate plus tax for cancellation within seventy-two (72) hours of the scheduled arrival date or failure of the individual to check-in on the scheduled arrival date.  Any remaining nights of a “no-show” reservation will be canceled.  It is policy to require a credit card or cash deposit for incidental charges.

 

Hotel accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, or Diners Club.

 

Check-in time is 4:00 PM and check-out time is 11:00 AM.  Any departures after 11:00 AM are subject to the full day charge.

 

Each guestroom must have at least one registered guest 21 years of age or older.
