How the Site Got Started - If You Are Interested

(The following text is from the original welcome page of this web site dated October 2002):

After searching the web in the first couple of weeks of October 2002 for any signs of fellow "Battery A Cannon Kings" from our old unit in Quan Loi, Vietnam I was able to finally find a posting from Jim Hynes in Florida and he eventually put me in touch with Reed McDonald in California. One thing led to another and soon we were emailing each other and sending long stowed-away photos and trying to help each other remember things long-forgotten or just lost from our memories due to the normal course of getting older. Hey, 32 years is a long time to remember people and events many of us thought we would never want to remember!

With no signs of much of anything on the web the three of us decided that Battery A 6/27th Artillery should have a presence on the web in the event that someone else might go searching for past memories. With that in mind I put together this first effort.

Please let us know what you think and who you are. Send us your photos and give us your criticism and suggestions for improving the site. Correct us if you think we have something wrong. Help us bring back both those good and not-so-good memories. Share your experience with all of us and you may just find you have a number of friends that were there with you and know what you are talking about like no one you have met in the last 32+ years. Help us establish a collective memory bank. We look forward to hearing from you.

John Wavra, Former Battery Clerk May 69 to June 70
