MIG 21 Hanoi Air Force Museum
I'm sitting in the cockpit of a MIG 21 cocooned in the Hanoi Air Force Museum,
admission fifty cents, the flimsy ticket collected by an elder man with an elder
rifle who seemed on permanent patrol. Outside the old hangar vines creep up the
skeletal remains of SAM missiles. Inside the museum it's very, very hot. War
photos and weapons hug the walls or are encased in wood and glass cabinets. The
day we visited the place was empty and silent as stone. Then another American
arrived; he and Seth talked long and hard about aeronautics. Not knowing much
about the subject I strolled across the smooth cement floor, entered a dim
corridor and stumbled upon the busted up M-16s which lead to travels back in
time.
