I was in the 6th Bn. 27th Arty. from Sept. 65 to March 66 and was one of the original soldiers that moved with the battalion from Ft. Bliss Texas to Fhouc Vinh Viet Nam. My gun section sergeant was sergeant Hass. I really don't remember a whole lot about that time in my life as it has been too many years. I also have pictures I can share of this time period. Send me some info back. Gene long,

This was fantastic,a lot of memories. It would be nice to hear from anyone I served with and remembers me or from anyone that was there the same time I was. Was wondering if John Wavra was the clerk I went on R & R with to Bangkok, and when we returned we stayed at a hotel in Saigon.

Great site, enjoyed it very much.I spent my first 8 months in Nam with "A" Battery 2/13. A 105 towed outfit. And last 4 with the 6/27 on a 175. Remember that A battery had sappers get in on July 11,1967, Was an honor to serve with the men of "A" Battery 6/27. Again nice site. Wishing all you redlegs the best. God Bless

John received your E mail. Accidently deleted it. I was'nt with the unit in July 67. But talked too people that were there when I arrived in Dec. There were no kia's. May of been a few wia's.They told me that luckily alot of the charges were duds.Remember one guy had a grenade rolled under his bunk that was a dud. Remember a freind of mine named Martish I believe was put in for a medal for firing illumination rounds from a morter during the whole battle ,but that he had'nt received it. The story was in the Stars & Stripes probably in July 67. I remember reading it at the time I was at my base camp at Phu Loi with the 2/13 Arty II Field Force.I remember the date because it is my birthday July 11. They took 3 men from my Brty.and a few from C brty 2/13 and maybe B Brty 2/13 also. And sent us too A Brty 6/27 I believe because alot of the men from "A" Brty 6/27 were leaving country at that time. And thy did'nt want alot of green troops. Of course I never even seen a 175 until then. Well that is all I remember except some of the men believed that the French brought the sappers in the trunks of there cars. Which does not surprise me. Ya I never knew there was pool there. Never left the Brty area except to pull ASP guard (ammo supply point) Again thanks for puting the site together John. I have to Sons in the infrantry now support our troops and take care of yourself John. Frank

Visited Quan Loi, 1967. Was with 2/33Arty, 1st Inf Div. Temp duty in prep for one of our 105mm Btry coming in. Had a small crew of 4. Spent about 2 weeks there. Set up our tent just off airfield. If I remember correctly we were between airstrip and road, French house up high on a hill across road, long low building from rubber plantation at end of runway. Red dirt, dust or whatever was everywhere and on everything. Outstanding site you have here. Memories.

My records were lost and all I have is a photograph that shows two buddies that were rotating back with me. I do not recall their names. They are standing right in front of Headquarters. I can bearly read the lettering on the Hqtrs sign, but I believe the Bn. Co. was LTC Neil. I remember only that Two Eagles (R.I.P.) was in my unit. Can anybody help me in finding other who served with me. I was a powerman at the time.

Today I stood on the former site of ABtry in Loc Ninh. I've got photos of the airstrip and site - nothing left except a section of the berm. I'm in VN on business about 4 times a year and decided to take a trip to the site. After returning searched the web and found myself in Les Higa's posting. Les, thanks for the photos - I've still got all mine, too. I'll post new photos for all. I'll try BoDop next trip in January. Scott Krueger
